Create and implement "Virtual Advising" so that all students can interact with their Academic Advisors whether they are in downtown Boston or downtown Shanghai through such tools as Skype.
Improve the method by which guests are granted access to residence halls and increase the number of guests per resident in enhanced upperclass housing.
Work with ZipCar and the University to place cars on campus for students who register with the program to use for commitments outside the Boston area such as co-op interviews.
With interest in athletics growing and surrounded by professional sports teams, a sports management major would be a great addition to the business department. Plenty of co-op opportunities at NU, at other schools, and also with the local professional sports teams.
Ban all smoking on campus. Wentworth has done it, resturants have done it. Students don't obey posted signs to do it away from doors and nobody enforces it. Simple solution then, Ban it, no smoking period.
Create a student led program in conjunction with administrators to help students of any major on campus to submit professionally presented artwork to be displayed on campus in buildings related to the artwork's focus.
Campus Bar & Grill. Other universities have bars and/or grills that are open late --and we should too.It keeps students close to campus especially on cold winter nights and the University could make some money off of it.
Northeastern used to have a bar in the Curry Student Center and they sell alcoholic beverages in the alumni center currently.
Picture yourself during finals week... Now remember all of those nights spent up until 4, 5 am and how hungry you get, but N O T H I N G is open. How hard would it be for Northeastern to leave Stetson East or IV open all night during these few weeks of the year? Other schools do it, and not just for finals.
Create a more comprehensive recycling program where students would not have to struggle to dispose of their waste properly.
Add a wait-list function for adding classes. First come first serve for the most popular electives, and no constantly checking to see if a seat has opened up!
Make Northeastern more bicycle friendly. Add an air and tool station, increase the number of covered bicycle racks, allow registration of bicycles with NUPD to deter theft, work with local bike shops to provide discounts on helmets and locks, and donate abandoned bikes to Bikes not Bombs!
There need to be helmets readily available for people to use at free skates at Matthews. I had to get transported to the hospital yesterday, which would not have happened had I been wearing a helmet. They have a lot of helmets for broomball, so why not let us use them for free skate? I feel uncomfortable going back to free skate without a helmet.
Would there be any interest in a rock climbing wall or boldering cave on campus? Not only is it a great venue for exercise but going to a rock climbing facility in/near Boston tends to be expensive and time consuming so this addition to campus would be beneficial to many. It's just a manner of getting enough interest to go forward with this.
