People who have yet to go on co-op should be able to view the co-op listing from earlier on, before they take the co-op class. That could help people plan ahead, and the co-ops listed could serve as suggestions on companies/firms/programs/schools to do internships in.
The new version of Blackboard is now user-unfriendly, disorganized and confusing. The update seems pointless, and the previous version was much better. While it may be too late to convert back to the previous version now (I would surely like to see it happen though), I feel that Northeastern should reevaluate the usefulness of this update, and avoid going through with pointless changes in the future. Moreover, Northeastern ...more »
Using credit cards to pay for tuition has allowed many people to gain cash back rewards. As such, the credit card payment option had been a convenient and attractive one. The recent policy change means that many people lose the opportunity to earn that reimbursement from the bank. Besides, not everyone would like to pay via "electronic checks, checks by mail, wire transfers, payment plans via TuitionPay and International ...more »
The Psychology Department posts a template of all the syllabuses for each section of each course being offered each semester, on their website. It is really useful for pre-registration times and course planning in general. Northeastern should make this mandatory by having other departments follow suit. I do not see why other departments have not.
Whether you're on your own laptop or your professor is logged into myNEU in the classroom's computer, the "Luminis Platform" will pop-up unexpectedly and ask you if you want to stay logged in. This is very disruptive and unwelcome, especially when it comes when you're in the middle of class, work, etc. Please get rid of it. I don't remember this being around last year. But somehow this year... it's here?
There have been some elevator issues going on in IV. Sometimes in IV East, the floor numbers that were pressed will all of a sudden switch off during the ride, after the first few people get out. The elevator then proceeds to go back down to the 1/F, forcing people to either stay in the elevator for the next ride, or get out and use a different elevator. There is also a specific elevator in IV West that will not go up ...more »
The touch screen scanners in the library are great and user friendly. But could Northeastern invest in a few more of them to prevent the "waiting in line to scan" situation? Perhaps 2 or more in the library and 1 or 2 in Curry (since Curry now has some printers as well)?
It is not necessary to do safety checks on dorm rooms. Res Life staff will only be in each room for 5 seconds, and cannot look through drawers or anything not directly visible. Anyone with dorm contraband will just hide it, not remove it. Res Life knows this well- they say make sure prohibited items are "not visible" rather than "not present." What is the point of checking to see if students know how to hide things? ...more »
Make more lights on campus auto-sensing to save electricity, like the ones in the IV dorm stairways
Are you kidding me? There are now live campus webcams (Centennial Common, Curry, Marino, Krentzman Quad). This is very unnecessary and violates our privacy. Anyone in the world can see this. Please at least limit the access to the NU community only. Better yet ban them all together.
To see the webcams I'm referring to, go to: http://www.northeastern.edu/webcams/
IV needs a more proper trash room as other Northeastern dorms have. There is no place for recycling paper unless it's cardboard. Also, except for the recycle bin for cardboard, everything is in the form of "garbage chutes" that are connected to the wall. It is a hassle to push a button (and then turn a knob) to open a garbage chute. There should just be bins instead of garbage chutes. Please just copy other dorms.
It'd be great if our myNEU email's spam detector could be more accurate so that some Northeastern emails (like "@neu.edu") would not accidentally get directed to the spam folder.
