Re-allow credit cards as a tuition payment option

Using credit cards to pay for tuition has allowed many people to gain cash back rewards. As such, the credit card payment option had been a convenient and attractive one. The recent policy change means that many people lose the opportunity to earn that reimbursement from the bank. Besides, not everyone would like to pay via "electronic checks, checks by mail, wire transfers, payment plans via TuitionPay and International Funds Transfers." The Financial Department should reconsider this, and re-allow credit cards as a payment option.

Template of Syllabuses for Academic Departments

The Psychology Department posts a template of all the syllabuses for each section of each course being offered each semester, on their website. It is really useful for pre-registration times and course planning in general. Northeastern should make this mandatory by having other departments follow suit. I do not see why other departments have not.

We have evaluations for teachers so why shouldn't we have evaluations for co-op advisors? These individuals are just as important, if not more so, in a Northeastern education.

    Improve Recycling in the Library

Anywhere there is a garbage can, there should be a recycling bin. The average student is unfortunately most likely not going to go hunt down a recycling bin when a garbage bin is closer. There are a few near the entrances to the floors but none throughout the rest of the floor. Also, if there are ANY on the first floor, I have yet to find them (besides the one in Argo). Get rid of the "Luminis Platform" Pop-up

Whether you're on your own laptop or your professor is logged into myNEU in the classroom's computer, the "Luminis Platform" will pop-up unexpectedly and ask you if you want to stay logged in. This is very disruptive and unwelcome, especially when it comes when you're in the middle of class, work, etc. Please get rid of it. I don't remember this being around last year. But somehow this year... it's here?

    International Village Elevator Problem

There have been some elevator issues going on in IV. Sometimes in IV East, the floor numbers that were pressed will all of a sudden switch off during the ride, after the first few people get out. The elevator then proceeds to go back down to the 1/F, forcing people to either stay in the elevator for the next ride, or get out and use a different elevator. The elevator then proceeds to go back down to the 1/F, forcing people to either stay in the elevator for the next ride, or get out and use a different elevator. There is also a specific elevator in IV West that will not go up or down once you get in and the door shuts (typically this elevator will stop at the 2nd floor and remain there). These are just two examples of what has been going on this semester. So in short, Northeastern should check the viability of its elevators, especially in IV where they have been a waste of time for people.

    West Village Printers

Remote printers in the West Village area. Have a couple REMOTE printers in H, not just the standard printers. Put the printer outside the RA office or by a camera if safety is a concern. There needs to be more printers in the residence area of campus, specifically WV where a majority of students live.

More Scanners in the Library or Elsewhere

The touch screen scanners in the library are great and user friendly. But could Northeastern invest in a few more of them to prevent the "waiting in line to scan" situation? Perhaps 2 or more in the library and 1 or 2 in Curry (since Curry now has some printers as well)?

    Google chrome on campus computers

Have google chrome permanently installed on all campus computers. Most students have chrome as there default browser and most certainly use it more than internet explorer. When students have presentations in class using google docs on internet explorer there is often problems. I myself have had this. I think internet explorer is an outdated and poor browser that is not popular among students.

    IV Printer Maintenance

The printer in IV is always out of paper. If it isn't out of paper, there is some kind of jam or swipe connection problem or toner problem or dead animal inside it that makes a noise when you try to print anything. I know no one can really anticipate the technical/biological problems with that printer, but can we at least put it behind a proctor's station so that people don't take the paper out for their own printers? I have heard people say they take paper out of the printer and I'm sick of being punished for others' selfishness by having my print dollars taken away for jobs that don't print.

Maybe, since proctoring is not exactly the busiest job in the world, the IV proctor can also be a printer monitor. Put the swiper on the desk, put the printer behind the desk, and the proctor can hand the kid their print job (and maybe a stapler). They could also report problems as they see them happening to the IT department. Maybe the technical problems will get fixed sooner that way.

I'm sick of wasting at least a third of my print dollars on jobs that don't print from the IV printer because of connection errors or no paper.

Rethink Res Life Safety Checks and Regulations

It is not necessary to do safety checks on dorm rooms. Res Life staff will only be in each room for 5 seconds, and cannot look through drawers or anything not directly visible. Anyone with dorm contraband will just hide it, not remove it. Res Life knows this well- they say make sure prohibited items are "not visible" rather than "not present." Moreover, the regulations themselves need to change. I get it when they don't want students to have excessive amounts of alcohol in their room, but there's nothing wrong with having a shelf, a beanbag, an additional chair, etc. Seriously.

Get MyNEU to not suck with Google Chrome

Using Google Chrome, half the time I try to log in, I get redirected to a Web Page not available screen instead of a log in screen, whenever I try to click the blackboard link I have to log in again or refresh the page and I cannot even access NUPay. Being that Chrome has the #1 market share of all browsers and is probably used by 90% of collage students, It is ridiculous the MyNEU works so poorly. Make it better!

Registering for the spring was just the most painstaking process ever. Maybe it was just my impression, but it seemed much worse than when I was registering for previous semesters. Many of my classes were not offered, and others just filled up completely before my registration period started. If these classes are prerequisites to other classes you are taking, this can seriously mess up your schedules in the following years as well and if worst comes to worst, you might not be able to graduate within your intended time.

Northeastern should allow the students to have influence on the classes that are offered. I think a way to do this is to have a poll sometime towards the beginning of each semester for everyone to say which classes they plan on taking in the following semester. Using this information, the university could adjust the course schedule for the coming semester accordingly.
